Flannery O’Connor Symposium Call for Info
Fifty years ago this November, Wise Blood and “A Good Man is Hard to Find” author Flannery O’Connor made a stop in Lafayette on a speaking tour of the South. She spoke at UL Lafayette’s Jeanmard Hall on the topic of “The Catholic Writer in the Protestant South.” A symposium to commemorate the event is planned for November 9-10, and we’re looking for people who attended her original talk. If you were there and would like to share your memories of Flannery O’Connor or have photos of the event, or if you attended her talk in another city, please email editor@deepsouthmag.com.
To find out more about the symposium, titled “Flannery O’Connor: The Legacy of a Southern Catholic Writer,” click here. Early bird registration with a discount is by October 15. To find out more about the recording of O’Connor’s talk that was discovered in Lafayette, read our initial coverage here. We hope to have a clip of her speaking on the website soon, and clips will also be played at the symposium on November 10.
