Poe on TCM Tonight
On Wednesdays throughout October, Turner Classic Movies has been presenting classic horror films. Up tonight are several films based on Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories. The Poe fest kicks off at 8 p.m. EST with 1963′s “The Raven,” a comic take on his classic poem starring Vincent Prince, Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff. (A young Jack Nicholson also plays Lorre’s son.) “Murders in the Rue Morgue” with Bela Lugosi follows at 9:45 p.m., with “The Black Cat” at 11 p.m. and “The Fall of the House of Usher” at 12:30 a.m. “The Tell-Tale Heart” at 1:45 a.m. and “Spirits of the Dead,” three supernatural tales based on Poe’s works starring Jane and Peter Fonda at 2:15 a.m., conclude the marathon.
If you can’t stay up all night getting lost in the dark world of the master of horror, we suggest setting the DVR. Note to TCM: Some of us have to work on Thursday.
