About Us
Headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana, Deep South is an online magazine and blog exhibiting traditional Southern charm wrapped in modern innovations. As this region continues to evolve and develop, we aim to connect the Southern states, and Southerners to each other, through stories on food, travel, culture, arts and literature, as well as an active Facebook page and Twitter account. We realize that Southern can be a state of mind, so Northerners are welcome, and we’re always proud to hear we’ve brightened the day of a homesick Southerner. Our Southern Voice section presents submitted fiction, nonfiction and poetry, while our Southern Literary Trail App offers a guide to writers’ homes and literary landmarks throughout the South. At the end of the day, through the help of interns and contributors across the region, we’re a little bit Southern Living, a little bit Oxford American, and if Garden & Gun ever calls, our panties will definitely be in a wad!

Internships
Deep South is always looking for interns. If you’re interested in learning more about online publishing and journalism and how social media fits into the picture, please e-mail internship@deepsouthmag.com. Internships can be done in-person in the Lafayette area or remotely, and we will gladly work with school programs to fulfill internship requirements.
About the photo: We wish this was a pic of our office, but it was taken on a press trip to Bayou La Batre, Alabama, and is of the last remaining waterfront resort in that area. It elicited lots of comments on our Facebook page when we posted it earlier this year and is now a private home.
