Happy Birthday to O. Henry!
Thanks to the Birmingham Public Library for alerting us to author O. Henry’s birthday today. The writer best known for this story “The Gift of the Magi” was born William Sydney Porter September 11, 1862, in Greensboro, North Carolina. His hometown erected a three-piece outdoor sculpture in his memory that represents “Magi” and “The Ransom of Red Chief.” A bronze statue of O. Henry and another of his dog, Lovey, complete the tribute.

The Ransom of Red Chief is one of my all time favorites! I had no idea the monuments existed. I would love to see them. Thanks for the info.
