Right now, Virginia tourism officials are on the steps of the state capitol announcing the state’s launch of a trail of sites related to the new “Lincoln” movie. The movie was filmed 100 percent over 53 days at sites in Richmond and Petersburg, and the self-guided trail and website to go with it will help moviegoers visit actual locations from the Steven Spielberg film, along with restaurants, bars and shops that stars, like Daniel Day Lewis, frequented. The trail includes the state capitol itself, downtown Petersburg and the Empire Theater. Each trail site is marked with a “Lincoln Was Here” sign.
