New Orleans Goes to the Grammys
In case you missed last night’s Grammy Awards, New Orleans’ own Dr. John and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band took the stage for a performance with The Black Keys. Dr. John was seated at his piano wearing a Mardi Gras Indian-style headdress that got some flak on Twitter, but we saw it as a true representation of New Orleans and its culture. It was a proud night for Louisiana in general, as New Orleanian Frank Ocean won two Grammy, The Band Courtbouillon took home the award for Best Regional Roots Album, and Breaux Bridge native Hunter Hayes, who opened for Carrie Underwood, was nominated for three Grammys, including Best New Artist.
