It’s a big year in film for Jack Kerouac fans. There’s no better way to celebrate his birthday today than to reread your Kerouac favorites in anticipation for these upcoming adaptations, compiled by Kayla Smith.

On the Road
You’ve probably heard of this film already. Set to be released in May, the adaption of Kerouac’s most famous book boasts a star-studded cast, including Sam Riley, Kristen Stewart, Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen.

Big Sur
Another of Kerouac’s “fictionalized autobiographies” will be released later this year. “Big Sur” is about Kerouac’s struggle to cope with his sudden fame as an author and his escape to California with his group of friends. The film stars Jean-Marc Barr, Josh Lucas and Kate Bosworth.

Kill Your Darlings
“Kill Your Darlings premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year.” It’s a drama, romance and thriller about a 1944 murder that draws together beat poets Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg and William Burroughs.
