Our Favorite Lilly Pulitzer Prints for Summer
Summer will never be the same now that Florida fashion icon Lilly Pulitzer (pictured) is gone, but thankfully her playful prints live on. It all started with her orange juice stand in Palm Beach, but it didn’t take long for Pulitzer’s shift dress, commissioned in bold prints to hide the juice stains, to catch on. Jackie O. was photographed wearing one made from kitchen curtain material, and a craze was born. Us Southerners just love to wear dresses made from curtains, but we also love bright colors, bold prints and a touch of whimsy in our attire.
Pulitzer offered all of this in a lightweight, non-fussy style that is still perfect for the beach, after-dinner drinks or a coastal cocktail party. She was known to host parties at her own Palm Beach home barefoot and was quoted as saying: “That’s what life is all about. Let’s have a party. Let’s have it tonight.”
Some of our favorite prints from the Lilly Pulitzer current collection include those sporting cocktails, coastal creatures and fun florals. Click on the print names to shop these collections and brighten up your summer wardrobe with a bit of Lilly.
Chomp Chomp – Named for Lilly’s favorite creature – the alligator – this pink, green and blue pastel print features gators wiggling back and forth. Available in two styles of dresses, bathing suits, shorts, a skirt, scarf, tote, wristlet and bowtie.
Just Add Mint – Bringing to life a cold, crisp mint julep, this print celebrates the South’s favorite libation in fresh green and fiesta pink. Available in two styles of dresses and a skirt.
