Legacy Smash

Strongly tied to American music, Legacy Kitchen recently opened at the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Girod streets in New Orleans. The restaurant is serving up inventive takes on classic American dishes like Fried Chicken and Waffles or the East Hampton Lobster Roll, with craft bartenders preparing classic cocktails like the perfect Old Fashioned and signature Legacy Smash, which takes advantage of strawberry season.

1.5 oz. Legacy Whiskey (Canadian Blend Whiskey)
1.5 oz. strawberry syrup (recipe below)
1 oz. lemon juice

Shake with ice and Strain over ice in an double old fashion glass. Garnish with fresh mint

Strawberry Syrup:

1 pint strawberries, cleaned and rinsed
4 cups sugar
4 cups water

Dissolve the sugar thoroughly in warm water. In a blender add the strawberries and sugar water (simple syrup) and blend for 30 seconds.
