Sizzling Grilled Fruit Tequila Sunrise
Mississippi Chef Linkie Marais is ready for tailgating season, and you can be too with her collection of recipes easy to transport and serve on game day. Ditch the beer and score extra points with guests by serving this refreshing cocktail that gets its flavor straight from the grill.
1 large orange
5 oz. Tequila Blanco
5 oz. Triple Sec
1 small jalapeno
2 large basil leaves
Preheat grill directly to 450 degrees. Slice fruit in half and place face down on the grill for 2-3 minutes or until nice char marks appear. Remove the fruit from the grill and allow cooling. Squeeze all of the juice out of the fruit into a pitcher. Slice the jalapeno into thin slices and add to the fruit juice. Slice the basil into thin slices (chiffonade) and add to the juice. Add the tequila and triple sec and stir well. Pour over ice, and serve with a slice of lime and orange. Serves 2.
Note: The flavors become more intense if you allow the cocktail to chill overnight.
