Spiked Apple Cider

Mississippi Chef Linkie Marais is ready for tailgating season, and you can be too with her collection of recipes easy to transport and serve on game day. Spiked with brandy, her cider is a must-have for those night games or brisk fall afternoons. Just use a pot on the grill to heat the drink and serve.

Spiked-Apple-Cider4 cups apple cider
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 stick cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of ginger
Pinch of nutmeg
Pinch of cloves
4-6 oz. Brandy (depending on how strong you like it), plus extra brandy for dipping
Cinnamon sugar for coating martini rims

Place all ingredients except brandy and cinnamon sugar into a medium pot, and place on medium high heat. Let the mixture come to a boil, and allow simmering for 2 minutes. Stir several times while boiling. Remove mixture from heat, and allow to cool slightly. Take martini glasses and dip rims into brandy, then immediately dip into cinnamon sugar. Set aside. Take apple cider mixture and add brandy. Stir. Pour into martini glasses and serve warm.
