Buffalo Trace Bourbon Smash

All three of Emeril Lagasse’s New Orleans restaurants will be previewing the official cocktail of Boudin, Bourbon & Beer: the Buffalo Trace Bourbon Smash. Taste the cocktail during the November 13 event or make a batch at home and celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month in September.
1 oz. Buffalo Trace Bourbon
3/4 oz. Grand Marnier
1/2 oz. Cherry Heering
1/2 oz. Falernum*
1 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
Satsuma or orange wheel for garnish
Muddle the citrus wedge in a cocktail shaker then add the remaining ingredients except the citrus wheel. Add ice, shake and pour into an old fashioned glass. Garnish with the citrus wheel.
Note: Falernum is a liqueur or syrup with a sweetened combination of flavors that include almond, ginger, clove, lime, vanilla and allspice.
