A Poem for the First Day of Summer

Shaliss Monet Wilkes was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Maryland and Michigan. She holds a BA in Mass Communication from Clark Atlanta University, and Revelations of a Born Again American Woman is her first published collection of poetry. Currently, she lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband and their very active toddler.
