Listen to ‘Stars of Alabama’
One of our 2019 summer reads, Stars of Alabama by Sean Dietrich is set during the height of the Great Depression. Dietrich offers a dash of magical realism in his historical fiction through character Marigold, a 15-year-old girl who loses her newborn baby in a forest and soon discovers she has developed a terrifying, inexplicable power. Meanwhile, two migrant workers find an abandoned infant nearby and decide to raise the child themselves. Simultaneously, a child preacher carrying thousands of stolen dollars is on the run to Alabama.
Stars of Alabama is out today, and we have an exclusive audio clip of Sean Dietrich—also known as “Sean of the South”—reading from chapter 77 titled “The Big House.”
