Call for Submissions on “Slowing Down”

The South is known worldwide for its slower pace of life, but that concept had really gotten lost before the arrival of COVID-19. Not being able to leave the house or go to work or school for an extended period of time made us all slow our lives way down. We started visiting with our neighbors again, riding bikes, baking bread, camping, sewing and lots more. How do we keep that pace and those values in our lives now that things are supposedly “back to normal” (not, really but you know what we mean)?
In this 2022 theme for fiction and nonfiction, we are asking writers to submit stories about a slower pace of life and activities that make us stop and appreciate the little things.
To be considered, submissions must have some connection to the South and to the theme. This is a rolling submission, which means we will be reviewing submissions throughout the cycle. If your submission is considered and accepted, there will be a collaborative revision process for the final publication. The deadline for submissions for “Slowing Down” is October 28, 2022.
You can find our full submission guidelines here.
