Early Times Mint Julep
The classic derby drink complete with silver cup.
Inspired by Tennessee Williams’ 1961 play of the same name, this punch was served during the 2013 Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival.
1/3 glass watermelon puree, chilled* 1/3 glass Chardonnay, chilled 1/3 glass sparkling water, chilled 1 watermelon ball Combine ingredients in a wine glass and serve immediately. Serves 1. *To make the watermelon puree, remove seeds from fresh watermelon and cut into large chunks. Place in a blender and process until smooth and well pureed.
1 1/4 oz. Pimm's No. 1 3 oz. lemonade Splash of 7UP Cucumber for garnish Fill a tall 12-oz. glass with ice and add the Pimm's and lemonade. Top off with 7UP and garnish with cucumber.
1.5 oz. Catdaddy Moonshine .75 oz. Apple/Cranberry Shrub (recipe below) 2 oz. hot, sweetened white tea Combine all ingredients and stir. Apple/Cranberry Shrub: 3 cups cranberries 1 cup Granny Smith apples 2 cups of Sugar 1 cup apple cider vinegar Muddle all ingredients in a large mason jar. Let sit about a day. Add apple cider vinegar, stirring thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients. Let rest about a week, making sure to shake every so often. Strain, filter and bottle.
