Oscar Buzz for The Help
Earlier today, we got an email with an infographic from Banyan Branch, a Seattle-based social media agency, depicting buzz online for the Oscar nominees. With Mississippi-based “The Help” up for best picture and three other awards and “The Barber of Birmingham” and “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore,” which was made in Shreveport, Louisiana, getting short film nods, the South has a big stake in this year’s show. See the graphic below to find out how much buzz “The Help” is getting on Facebook and Twitter and how many people are talking about Viola Davis’s performance as Aibileen. According to this, “The Help” won’t be going home empty handed.

Go, Viola, go. Also, I’m hoping Octavia Spencer, who hails from the deep South (Montgomery, AL), gets the best supporting actress. She’s a special one too.
It’s great about the “Barber of Birmingham” and “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.”
