It’s the Humidity

by Mike Wilson

Walking home from the beach
ignoring the nut in the red car
laying on his horn when I cross
middle finger through the sunroof
In curtains of shade
lizards leap through bougainvillea
urgent in their errands
oblivious of me
I recall the freelance saint
reading her poetry at open mic
a radio station
broadcasting love
A neighbor brings a mango
It’s mango season, she says
Her husband winks, explains
Everything grows in Florida
